You are my constant source of wisdom and help. Each day I want to better and better follow Your ways and learn how to use Your wisdom. Help me not to be careful about my other sources of advice, and to discern what is godly words and what will harm my soul or other's.
Also, I pray my future spouse develops a deep desire to seek godly counsel and has friendships that encourage his or her walk with God, not destroy it.
Psalm 1:1-3 "Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law does he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall no wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper."
I thank You for Your holiness, for Your purity. In a world full of evil and hurt, it is a comfort to know that the God I worship is purely good and perfect.
You ask us to become more like You, developing Your likeness and reflecting Your glory, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Learning to live our life in step with Your guidance and wisdom. I will admit that this scares me at times because You are so holy and infallible. The standard is so high. Help me to realize that You do not expect perfection-- to say, think, and do all the right things (this would be us trying to earn our righteousness which You alone can provide). You want my heart and desires to become more and more like Your own, leading us to overflow with Your love for this world. I recommit to walking in Your ways. Thank You for graciously equipping me for this task as I move forward and for Your mercy and forgiveness when I falter.
2 Corinthians 3:18 "We, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Holy Spirit."
You are our strength like no other. Help me to seek it in You alone. When all else seems bleak and I don't know where to turn, thank You for Your never-ending help. I pray that the things of this earth I'm holding onto for fulfillment and life, those things that seem to promise me security but in the end are not You, please, break their hold on me and my desire to put them above You. I want to fully find all my strength, security, and peace in You, the Lord that will never leave or forsake me.
Slowly pray through the following Scriptures and soak in God's promises!
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3
"You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." Romans 8:9
You are Sovereign. You are the King over all the earth. Your will WILL be done. Since You are just and right in all You do, I trust Your ways and Your timing. Thank you for this reminder, and I ask for encouragements of hope in my life and for the lives of those around me. Our situations can be overwhelming and so dark. Sometimes, I doubt things will ever get better. Please, I ask for an increase in faith that You will be victorious in our lives.
John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Romans 8:25 "If we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance."
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
I know You are in control. I know You know best. But sometimes I don't believe it. I surrender my life to you again. All areas. Take everything I am and use it for Your glory. Teach me how to trust You better even when I don't know what's going to happen or how things will work out. I believe, Lord, help my unbelief.
Dear Lord, thank you so much for this new week and for bringing me to the end of February. I pray that I will grow closer to You in March and seek to worship you with all of my life, holding nothing back. Amen.
Focuses for prayer:
Monday: Loving my family
Tuesday: Loving my coworkers or people I interact with at work
Wednesday: Loving my friends
Thursday: Loving my Church
Friday: Developing a care and love of myself that honors you and reflects how you unconditionally and fully accept and love me.
Saturday: Loving my enemies
Sunday: Loving those in need
I'm so grateful today is a new day and a fresh start. Help me to remind myself I am free of my past through You and my mountains can be conquered. Please give me strength and dependance on You. Thank you for Your patience and unconditional love.
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
How Can I Pray for My Future Spouse to Keep Commitments? (Page 186 of Gunn and Goyer's book we've been going through)
Adapted from Gunn and Goyer's Praying for Your Future Husband (page 168):
Pray Your Future Spouse will be Content and Develop Patience. As with all Scripture, praying slowly and meditatively through it is one method of praying to God!
Philippians 4:11-13, "I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."
