Adapted from page125-126 of Gunn and Goyer's Praying for Your Future Husband:
Pray that every day your spouse will put on the whole armor of God, as listed in Ephesians 6, so he or she can stand against the evil one. Specifically pray that:
The person will put on the belt of truth around his or her waist. Pray that the person will keep that belt cinched tight.
Your spouse will wear the breastplate of righteousness. Making good decisions and living in a way that honors God will protect the heart the way a breastplate protects a warrior's vital organs.
Your partner will slip his or her feet into marching boots. That way he or she always will be ready to go where God leads. The person will be equipped to journey through difficult places to tell others the great news of how they can have peace with God.
Your future spouse will pick up the shield of faith daily. Pray the person will hold that shield steady to protect him or her from the flaming arrows the enemy will shoot at the person every day of their life.
Your spouse will put on the helmet of salvation so that the mind will be protected with the knowledge of who the person is in Christ. They are a redeemed, adopted son of the Most High God. Pray that this identity will be firmly in place and protect the thoughts.
Pray that your spouse will learn how to wield the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Pray that he or she will pull out that sword and use it to slice through the attacks of the evil one. Pray also that he or she will realize all needs for life are found in God's Word.
Remember to pray the same-in all these ways- for yourself.
